Sweet….
We’re knocking out songs left and right….. 4-5 songs a practice. Next week is a review week but we’re rocking 16 new songs right now not counting anything that may kept around from the past - we’ll pull those out when when the bar is good and sauced and we’re out of material :) We can’t wait to get out and show you what we’ve been working on.
Yup - the hiatus is over. The band has moved to a new space, new equipment is coming soon and the songs have been picked. We are pretty much revamping the band’s repertoire and we can’t wait to get started. We would have been moving on the new songs sooner but Mike had a baby, then Matt had a baby and surgery, then the holidays hit. Things are settling down and we’re ready to bring you some new music. The focus is awesome songs that you haven’t heard in a long time. There will still be popular radio songs in the mix, some huge hits but when was the last time you heard that Smoking Popes song that you loved back in the 90s, or that Talking Heads song that didn’t you hummed for days on end? We’re bringing it back. I know there are lots of you that want to hear Mustang Sally and Brown Eyed Girl every time you go to the bar but you’re not going to hear that with us…. but there will be plenty of tunes to dance and sing along with. We can’t wait to get started. Check back soon for more posts!

This site will be changing names in a couple of weeks…. huh? what? where is it going? The site was created last year under the impression that we would only doing one show. Well that’s changed and it’s no longer a reunion as it is we’re a band once again. I’m still kicking around some domain names but as of August 28th avenuereunion.com will be no longer. I’ll update the facebook page and twitter account when it happens. We will be playing a show Sept 12 around 6pm at Rubino’s music in Merrillville Indiana. It’s after the Bears game this year so you have no excuse this year! We’ll see you then.
Lots going on with the Avenue bunch. That’s not really true. We jammed last night and busted out a couple old tunes - that actually went pretty well. We got our pedals re-arraged and that Avenue sound is on it’s way back. All tube, all the time. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until we actually go out and do a show. We’ve talked about opening up for a couple of bands in the area to get our feet back in the bar scene. We’re still working on equipment. Speakers are next. I’m back and forth between building and buying. I really want the convience of buying with the customization of building. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna build. After the wedding next weekend we may have some time available to get those projects underway. The PA is coming together slowly with the need for a couple additional amplifiers, some replacement baskets and mixer. I think we will have the monitors down by next weekend. I’m on the look-out for anything PA related so if you have something that you’re looking to sell, or know someone that might, we may be interested.
I’m the last of the band to get married and we’ve all stood up for each other so it comes to no suprise that we’ll all be together next weekend for my wedding. I’d really like to thank the guys for what will be an awesome party this weekend and sure to be a memorable wedding day. We will try to squeeze a rehearsal in next week and maybe play a few tunes at the wedding.

Hey there, Matt from Avenue here. You’re probably wondering where your VLOG is, it’s sitting on my camera. I didn’t feel it was worthy of posting. I may do another one in a couple of weeks. We had to put practice on hold for a couple of weeks but we jammed last night. We rocked through Ballroom Blitz (most difficult to sing), 8675309(new key), New Sensation(surprisingly good) and Good Things (like an old shirt). We started on Dancing with Myself. We’re moving along, I kinda lost count but we’re up over 20 tunes. We’re half way there…. woooo ohhhh, living on a … you get the idea. We haven’t planned on adding any Jovi to the set list. We’re still looking for song suggestions so hit us up. Leave a comment on here or facebook, we’d love to hear from you. We haven’t decided on what to work on next week but I may throw some Men at Work in there. Mike’s pushing for a Buck Cherry song, maybe.
